Discharge measurements in open waterways, are among the most challenging disciplines in Hydrometry.
For decades they have been carried with mechanical current meters.
The ADC (acoustic digital current meter) from OTT Hydromet GmbH, Germany, is a mobile ultrasonic discharge measurement device for measuring point velocities on rod in open streans, rivers or irrigation channels. It uses acoustic metering principles for more accurate calculations. Unlike mechanical procedures, the ADC transmits ultrasonic signals and scans the echo patterns received. In addition, using mathematical procedures based on the internationally acknowledged EN ISO 748 standard, the flow velocity is calculated in the connected control device, which means precise and reliable measuring results are guaranteed. Equipped with a built-in pressure sensor, the cross-section profile is automatically recorded during measurement and an instant evaluation of the flow rate is possible on the spot.
With the aid of adapters it is easy to attach the OTT ADC to different measurement rods e.g. USGS standard rod.
All the important measurements are shown to the user on a graphic display on the light and convenient control device. The software guides the user step by step through the measuring process and helps position the sensor accurately. When a measurement is complete, the discharge is automatically and accurately calculated. With the ADC by OTT Hydromet it is possible to interpret and evaluate the data wherever the measurement is carried out. This enables immediate data analysis plus quick and reliable measurements.
