AIRTEC 2014 – B2B-Meeting-Concept of the international Aerospace Supply Fair is confirmed as worldwide success – future technologies like automation in manufacturing of composite structures, additive manufacturing (3D-printing) and alternative fuels, as well as forward-looking markets such as commercial space and UAS in focus – growing interest from countries overseas – share of exhibitors from abroad grows up to 70%

Frankfurt/Main, 7 November 2014: This year“s international B2B Trade Fair AIRTEC was inaugurated by Brigitte Zypries (MdB), Parliamentary State Secretary to the Minister of Economics and Energy, and Federal Government Coordinator of German Aerospace Policy. Mrs. Zypries stressed the important role of this sector in Germany, since it has over 105.000 people direct employed and generates an annual turnover of more than 30 billion Euros. The 9th AIRTEC was the most successful one ever since its existence. The combination of trade exhibition with innovative technologies from the entire aerospace supply chain, high-calibre specialists“ conventions with comprehensive programmes and international B2B-matchmaking on a high-level expertise were well-perceived by the participants. Moreover, participants were enthused by the high quality and quantity of specific contact making and discussions, and the high efficiency of the B2B meetings. Numerous LOIs were signed at the fair.

AIRTEC established itself as a business and technology driver. Emphases in the international congress were current topics such as automation in manufacturing of composite structures, additive manufacturing 3D-printing, alternative fuels, commercial space and civil and military UAS. The topic of Supply Chain Management also played a major role in the congress. During the international Aerospace Supply Chain / Procurement Summit, top-buyers and supply chain managers of Airbus Group, Boeing, Bombardier, Kawasaki Parker Aerospace and Rolls-Royce discussed the huge challenges in the Aviation Industry as well as the future requirements related to its suppliers.

Commercial space was one further main topic, in particular with regard to smaller and medium-sized businesses. Perspectives, new business possibilities, legal issues and current technological obstacles were part of the discussion agenda. Participants elaborated on the idea of conquering the sky within the next two decades, not only with airplanes but also with orbital space shuttles, and possible scenarios were talked about. Among those participants were representatives of Airbus Defence & Space, Boeing, DLR, ESA, NASA, Sierra Nevada, SpaceX, and Virgin Galactic. Aside from AIRTEC, there is no other fair in Europe which is committed to the topic of commercial space to that extend. Topics like space tourism, hypersonic passenger transport, space in space, or the transportation of payloads were dealt with.

Leading experts from industry and the federal regulatory body talked about challenges and chances on the future market of UASs. Certification, public acceptance, regulation or the role of the European aviation industry explored.
450 companies took part in the B2B-Meetings; a total of 10,000 B2B-Meetings took place, which is an increase of 59% compared to the previous year. 650 participants were part of the congress. In total, 5.206 Aerospace Industry experts from 45 countries met for expert discussions at AIRTEC 2014; corresponding to a 70% share of participants from abroad. Italy, Spain, the U.S.A., Great Britain and France were the most strongly represented countries, Brazil showed a particularly strong growth, and growing interest came from China, Japan and Singapore.

Since 2006 AIRTEC takes place annually in the exhibition halls Frankfurt, Germany and represents the entire aerospace supply chain from design, engineering, testing and simulation over materials, production, tools, components, systems, electronics, sensors, avionics up to life cycle support, all at one exhibition place. At the international exhibition the international audience receives a varied overview of the aerospace supply industry where innovations, new technologies and trends are represented. Due to the unique exhibition B2B Meeting concept , AIRTEC is more than a traditional trade fair. The core of AIRTEC are the B2B meetings that are pre-arranged via a sophisticated B2B matchmaking platform prior to the event. The meetings take place during the three days of AIRTEC and in this way enhances the intensive exchange with potential business partners from Germany and abroad. The program is accomplished by an international aerospace congress, where experts from industry and research discuss new developments and trends. This combination of an international exhibition, B2B-meetings and an international congress makes AIRTEC one of the world-wide leading meeting-places in the aerospace industry.
