„Starjack“: new online sales portal for lift tickets features IT expertise from SKIDATA
The cooperation between SKIDATA and Pool Alpin is revolutionizing online lift ticket sales. IT expertise, software and hardware from SKIDATA together with the new „Starjack“ online platform make purchasing ski tickets on the internet a breeze, thus ushering in a new era without long waits at the ski lift. A total of 70 Austrian ski resorts have joined the online platform to date. „Our goal was to standardize online lift ticket sales throughout Austria, making it as convenient as possible for customers,“ says Franz Holzer, managing director of SKIDATA Austria.
After a two-year test phase in the Kitzbühel ski region, the new booking platform for lift tickets has been online since November 2016. The great reception by 2,500 customers all over Europe proves SKIDATA right: the process of purchasing ski passes urgently needed to be improved and digitalized. Innovative ideas and technical development from SKIDATA“s IT experts made this step possible.
Hit the slopes quickly and safely thanks to SKIDATA technology
„Starjack“ offers many advantages: a large selection (since so many Austrian ski resorts participate) and faster, easier lift ticket purchases. Plus there is just one single keycard – the Starjack Card – that is valid for all ski resorts. All of these factors mean fewer skiers buy their ski pass at the lift; the keycard is activated upon first entry to the ski resort – meaning shorter lines in the future.
Another essential aspect of the new online ticket portal is safety. In the past, skiers and snowboarders were anonymous but now they are registered with the Starjack Card. „If there is an accident, personal details can be called up to allow for fast, trouble-free assistance.“ SKIDATA Austria managing director Franz Holzer is convinced: „Ski slopes will be a much safer place.“
